What will you do?

We are seeking an experienced People & Capability Business Partner to join our amazing team in Victoria. You will be surrounded by people who are knowledgeable, supportive of each other and get a kick out of being able to impact the business and culture of Target.

Overall, you will be responsible for partnering with two of our Regional Managers to support and deliver key people initiatives for our store teams. There is a total of 24 stores that you will look after, which spread mostly across the eastern and south eastern suburbs of Melbourne in addition to a handful of regional stores.

You will also have the opportunity to be involved in a number of different People & Capability projects at our Store Support Office in Melbourne.

Other key responsibilities may include:

  • Drive the safety agenda across the region, and take accountability for a safe workplace by identifying and reporting safety concerns, maintaining a strong injury management process and fostering a prevention culture within stores.
  • Ensure line managers are provided with required support to assist with the resolution of workplace relations matters, including grievances, conducting workplace investigations and performance management.
  • Support the store and state teams in understanding and driving improvement in people metrics.
  • Provide organisation design to support the region, focusing on having the right people in the right roles to support Target’s overall strategy.
  • Work with the regions on organisational design, building strong internal succession plans, talent pipelines and identify business critical roles and development opportunities.
  • Identify training and development gaps within the teams, and liaise with the Learning & Capability team to implement strategies to address these deficiencies.
  • Support line managers throughout the recruitment process, ensuring the key skills and attributes are recruited to deliver Target’s business and diversity strategy, reflecting our customers and the communities we work within.
  • Own the induction, coaching and development process to create a high performing team with clear measures, development plans and support mechanisms.
  • Lead the Target vision, strategy and values within the team and across the organisation.

You will be known for your optimism and positivity, and will have a strong track record of success in the People & Capability space. The ability to develop and influence others is essential, as is a commercial approach to decision making. You thrive in an environment of change, and will be comfortable adapting to ensure the people agenda stays aligned to the business needs.
