We are seeking an experienced Merchandise Capabilities Specialist to join our Merchandise team based in our Store Support Office in Williams Landing in Melbourne. 

What will you do?

Reporting to the Merchandise Process Manager, the key areas of focus in this role will include developing and maintaining the Merchandise Competency Matrix, conduct audits and provide ongoing coaching on business practice, in line with Target’s values.

Other key responsibilities may include:

  • Develop and maintain a Capability framework for new starters and existing Merchandise roles
  • Regularly meet with the Merchandise stakeholders to review training delivery; participants’ and Line Managers’ feedback; areas for process improvement; development of Champions
  • Development and maintenance of learning materials to identify efficiencies and drive continuous improvement
  • Work collaboratively with the Learning and Development team to development online learning content ensuring there is a consistent approach across the business
  • Work with process owners and project teams on the development of new initiatives to develop new training packages to support these initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with the Merchandise Teams to understand training needs and Design and develop training and development programs based on both the organizations and individual’s needs.
  • Lead the Target vision, strategy and values within the team and across the organization

What are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate their strong working experience in retail merchandise process with an understanding of business learning frameworks.  Strong influencing skills across all levels of an organisation is essential as is exposure to retail systems along with the ability to work with diverse groups and relate to team members at all levels, excellent organisational and time management skills, and the ability to encourage and motivate others.
